XC Preliminary Calendar

5 02 2008

Cycling BC released the draft MTB calendar a few weeks back.  Karen will attempt to attend every XC race on the BC Cup circuit.  The only thing that will stop her from doing every race will be her inability to get the time off work.  It’s always sad when real life interferes with the aspirations of an athlete.

We are eagerly waiting for calendars for the BC Cup CX circuit, the Seattle Cross Series and the Cyclocrazed series in Belligham.  Fall weekends are going to be packed!

Karen promises to post soon.  She wants to tell you all about the time some junkie stole her bicycle and how she got it back.

Maroon/Gold/Green?

4 02 2008

Yes, this is actually Karen posting (with Kat taking dictation while Karen is logging-in STATs).  Ummmm…..

I am extremely excited and going to pee my

I am extremely excited **giggle**   *sigh*   Just write for me Kat.

(Kat says no.)

I have officially certified myself as a gearhead.  I am sitting at work thinking about colours of headsets and hubs.  What will look hot on a green bike?  Gold?  Maroon?  A blonde pixie in a lab coat just walked over and gives her seal of approval (and wants to you know if you, the reader, are single.)

(Karen is done dictating for the day because she is expected to work now.)

It Hurts Us, The Laughing

26 01 2008

Here at Karen Todd’s home page we track your every click.  When you follow our links we know and when you google for “Karen Todd Porn” and end up at this site we know.   We hope you weren’t too disappointed with the abject lack of naked ladies.  We have put up a new post with a different title so that we don’t get so many hits from porn-seekers.  It is not our aim to frustrate people by making them comb through the entire site for a naked picture of Karen.  We have had our laugh so move on, porn-seekers!  There’s no naked ladies here.  Yet.

Handmade Bicycle Porn

24 01 2008

It’s official!  Tickets are bought, hotels are booked and drooling has commenced already.  Karen and I are off to Portland, Oregon on February 9th for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show.  Not only will we be shuffling open-mouthed past a hundred exhibits of gorgeous handmade bicycles and parts, we may take in a seminar or two. I am personally aiming to learn about the history and future of Reynolds 953 tubing. I think Karen may want to learn how to fit bicycles for the consumer from Richard Schwinn.

After a long day of boy and bike oogling we will retire to the Hilton Portland for a short respite before hitting the town. Maybe we will run into some boys on bikes from the show to go party with.

(Editing done by Kat to maintain appearance of married-lady prudency.)

New Bike Parts

23 01 2008

Karen just showed up at my house and is very excited about carbon cranks for the New Road Bike, a carbon seat-post for the New Road Bike, road bike pedals and a titianium bottom bracket.  What the titanium bottom bracket is for we are still unsure.  As Karen does not yet own road bike shoes (gasp!) the pedals will collect dust for awhile until there are sufficient funds to aquire some road-bike-snob approved footwear.

Karen says “thanks C”.

Ooooohhh, cryptic.

A New Blog To Watch

21 01 2008

From The Church of The Big Ring:

Brothers and Sisters
Written on January 14, 2008. Written by The Rev.

Welcome to The Church Of The Big Ring, your online source of 2 wheeled salvation.I am pretty sure God, Jah, Allah, Buddha, Merckx, whoever lifts your skirt theologically speaking rides a bike. The economy of motion, the ability to glide silently with the natural world or crush your enemies with a wicked attack. From the intensity of ‘cross to the serenity of an alpine singletrack when we ride we are in tune with the world, our machine, our mind and our body.

We here at Karen Todd Cycling Inc. agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. This following passage lifts our spirits especially high:

Book of Revolutions 53×11 (excerpt)
Written on January 16, 2008. Written by The Rev.

…and the lord said unto Eddy “The road to my kingdom shall be ridden in thy Big Ring. Do not be tempted by the song of the 39 for that is the true number of the beast” hearing that, he rose from the saddle and smote thy enemies.

Amen.

Karen’s New Bike

20 01 2008

Behold the new steed of a future road racer!  For how could Karen not race this amazing bicycle?  This is a Rocky Mountain Solo Custom Carbon frame with a mixed Shimano groupset.  (I’m pretty sure she has cranks and pedals on it now!)

Karen's Fancy-Schmancy New Bike

The poor Surly Pacer that served her so well last season has been stripped of it’s parts. The frame will be for sale as soon as Karen cleans it up and takes it’s picture. This season’s new cyclocross bike has yet to be selected but we hope to get some ideas at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. Karen’s bicycle stable now contains four bicycles and one lonely frame, a collection that I aspire to in some future life.

Updates Galore

15 01 2008

New for today: photos of Karen racing all nicely tagged for your enjoyment, a spell-checked biography and a spam-proof contact page.  Will wonders never cease?

Karen is expressing more interest in actually writing a post.  Stay tuned for words from the woman herself.

Now An Officially Karen-sanctioned Webpage

12 01 2008

I should introduce myself! I am Karen’s webmaster and supporter. She has viewed the drafts of her new home page and agreed that this is not too egomaniacal. She even expressed interest in writing some posts herself. Updates will be frequent at this point as everyting is in continual revision.

Thanks to my webmastering homies Matthew and Zach.

Check out Karen’s new bio!
